Location
New Zealand lies in the heart of the Pacific and is only a short flight from Australia, Fiji and other exotic South Pacific destinations. From the West Coast of the United States, a direct flight to New Zealand takes about 12 hours. From other places on the Pacific Rim, such as Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo, flights take around 10 hours.

Direct Air New Zealand flights from Los Angeles take only 12 hours, about the same time as flying from Los Angeles to London. Many flights tend to leave in the evening, which means that visitors arrive in New Zealand after a restful night and in time for breakfast. Asia is easy to reach from New Zealand, with direct flights available between Tokyo and Auckland (10 hours, 25 minutes), Singapore (10 hours, 50 minutes), Hong Kong (11 hours, 5 minutes) and a range of other destinations. The flying time from Europe to New Zealand is about 26 hours whether travelling east-bound via Asia or west-bound via the United States.

Once you have arrived into New Zealand at Auckland International Airport, you can be in the centre of Auckland in under an hour.
