To register for the Conference, please complete the online registration form or download the form here and send it, together with your payment, to:

Social function tickets will NOT be confirmed until full payment is received at the IBA office. If full payment is not received by Monday 18 August tickets will be released without further warning.

As numbers may have to be limited for certain functions, tickets will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and requests for tickets for unregistered guests will be granted at the discretion of the Head of Conferences.

Registration Fees include:
  • attendance at all working sessions
  • conference documentation; including website access to any available speakers' papers, and the preliminary list of participants
  • Opening Ceremony and Welcome Party on Sunday 14 September
  • tea and coffee during breaks
  • A Californian winery evening Note: a non-refundable reservation fee will be levied

Cancellation/Substitution
Your registration will be acknowledged in writing, but not by fax. Any cancellation must be received at the IBA Office, in writing, by Wednesday 3 September in order for fees to be refunded. A 15% administration charge will be deducted on registration fees and social function tickets.

After Wednesday 3 September, no refunds can be made for registration fees but a substitute delegate may be nominated at any time. Social function tickets will only be refunded after this date if the IBA can resell the tickets.

Guests
No member of the legal profession may be registered as a guest. Only registered guests (ie those paying the guest registration fee) are eligible to participate in the social programme and excursions except with the prior agreement of the Head of Conferences.

Guests may not attend working sessions with the exception of the Cultural Issues Programme on Tuesday 16 September.


Important dates
In order for the early registration fees to apply, both the Registration Form and the payment must be at the IBA office by Friday 11 July.

For your name to be included in the preliminary list of participants, which will be available to all registered delegates on this website by mid-August, registration forms and fees must be received at the IBA office by Friday 11 July. Please contact the IBA office to request a hard copy of the preliminary list of participants if required.

Your registration form and payment must be received by Friday 8 August in order for your name to be included in the final list of participants, which is available at the Conference.

Registrations cannot be accepted at the IBA office after Wednesday 3 September. After this date, registration should be made on arrival at the Conference, at which time the higher fees will apply.

Notice of cancellation must be received at the IBA Office, in writing, by Wednesday 3 September in order for fees to be refunded. A 15% administration charge will be deducted on both registration fees and social function tickets. We regret that no refunds can be made after this date.

Credit Card payments: by Visa, Mastercard or American Express. No other cards are accepted. Credit Cards will be charged in US dollars. Your credit card company will translate this cost to the currency of your credit card.

Language
The working language for both the sessions and conference papers is English.


Conference papers
A list of all Conference papers received at the IBA office by Wednesday 27 August will be available on the website from Monday 8 September. Conference delegates will be able to access, and download, papers free of charge.

Subsequent papers received at the IBA office by Friday 14 November will be available on the website from this date. A catalogue of papers will be available upon request.


The organisers may at any time, with or without giving notice, in their absolute discretion and without giving any reason, cancel or postpone the Conference, change its venue or any of the other published particulars, or withdraw any invitation to attend. In any case, neither the organisers nor any of their officers, employees, agents, members or representatives shall be liable for any loss, liability, damage or expense suffered or incurred by any person, nor will they return any money paid to them in connection with the Conference unless they are satisfied not only that the money in question remains under their control but also that the person who paid it has been unfairly prejudiced (as to which, decision shall be in their sole and unfettered discretion and, when announced, final and conclusive).
